Bamtec Comparison to Mesh in Ground Floor Slabs
Traditionally fabric mesh reinforcement has been seen as the most efficient and quickest way to provide basic reinforcement to a ground bearing slab.
Fabric Mesh has one inherent weakness that being its size of 2.4 x 4.8m sheet sizes. In large slab areas the amount of laps can represent a significant uplift in the total area of mesh required to cover the slab. Therefore the total weight in the slab that results from the use of fabric mesh sheets can be significantly higher than it need be.
By using rolls of Bamtec (which match the bar size & pitch of the mesh) that are significantly wider and longer than multiple sheets of standard size mesh, many of the laps can be eliminated therefore saving overall weight in the slab as well as being significantly quicker and cheaper to install.
